Change of use request for Valley View in Dalton submitted

A RETROSPECTIVE application to change the use of a former hotel and restaurant to holiday accommodation has been submitted to Barrow Borough Council.

Permission is sought to convert Valley View in Dalton into a nine-bedroom vacation rental.

Work was completed to transform it in June 2021, according to planning documents.

The retrospective application was submitted to council on Thursday.

The Mail tried to contact the owners of Valley View but had not received a response at the time of going to press.

According to a listing on Sykes Cottages Valley View ‘has recently been converted into a great holiday home for all types of guests wishing to explore all the delights of the Cumbrian countryside’.

“Choose from a range of lounges to relax after a long day of sightseeing and listen to TV and watch some of your favorite shows while the open fire warms you up,” he says.

“There is a wonderful library room which contains a large number of books; take one and head to the comfortable one where you can enjoy some quiet time.”

The hotel, formerly known as Clarence House, went on sale in early 2020.

As of January this year, the site was still for sale with bids in the region of £1.7million sought.

The borough council’s urban planning portal indicates that the request for change of use is at the “public consultation” stage.
